Visiting the Trap

Samuel shows no fear of the hanging bait and gives it a good yank. We had deliberately fastened the gate open to allow Samuel to become comfortable inside the trap. If the door had been set to trigger, he would have been captured right then.
Samuel came by again later that evening. The gate is still locked in the open position.
In the morning, Retrievers founder Greg James adds more food to entice Samuel back into the trap.
Greg chose to attach the trap gate to a long cord and trigger it manually once he saw Samuel in the trap from where he was observing inside his vehicle. The trip cord can be seen exiting the trap at the top left.
